One of the must-see events is jigging research in the days leading up to the closure of pikeperch fishing in the large subalpine lakes.
Usually these fascinating fish reach the spawning grounds in good time as early as mid-March, and the large females of the species linger in the underwater until spawning is complete, sometimes all the way through June.

The technique of jigging with silicone shad imitations worked near the bottom turns out to be the most effective method of inducing these predators to attack our lures with ferocity.

The fishing action consists of maneuvering the shad by having them inspect all crevices and bottom structures, paying special attention to obstacles placed in an elevated position above the benthic plain; special care will have to be taken in all release phases, that is, when our artificials will collapse after a pulling phase.
I personally use rods of length mt 2.40/2.70 with pronounced top action but also with a considerable reserve of power to cope with heavy fighting; the reel is a "size 4000/5000" with a very good progressive clutch, oversized spool with flared edges and a good supply of ball bearings, loaded with a super braided line of excellent quality such as Asso 8XPE Perfect Storm 0.15 mm thick in green or, for night sessions, neon yellow.
As a fluoro terminal the excellent Asso Superfluorocarbon in thickness mm 0.32 distinguished by great abrasion resistance and tenacity even in the presence of dangerous benthic obstacles.
