The first of the large subalpine lakes to reopen hostilities towards our friend pike is Lake Iseo or Sebino; naturally, the desire to confront the most emblazoned predator of our waters is great and I don't miss the opportunity to organize a few outings on the waters of the Bergamo/Brescia lake.

In truth, the Iseo is a lake I know very well because I began to fish its predators as far back as the mid-1970s, that is, when I rented an apartment in nearby Valseriana. Its waters can boast to this day a good population of italic pike, Esox Cisalpinus or Esox Flaviae, and there is also no shortage of beautiful royal perch, voracious chub and as rare as beautiful lake trout.
Good knowledge of bathymetrics helps in no small part in this search spinning, and the upper lake bottoms still give some nice pike provided they are approached with appropriate gear.
Whether I fish for spinning or if I decide for casting, the proper use of high quality components such as braids and terminals turns out to be fundamental; those who know me know that for years, when reliability is paramount, I have been using Asso Fishing Line, in this case, I cannot do without the excellent green colored braid Asso 8XPE Perfect Storm of thickness mm 0.15 for spinning and mm 0.32 for casting.
As a fluorocarbon terminal I use theAsso Superfluorocarbon which, in addition to providing me with excellent abrasion resistance, turns out to be practically invisible in the water and allows me to carry off even the heaviest fights with size specimens as a winner.
I will talk a lot more about this fantastic combo especially when I start fishing only by casting in the fall with big lake pike as my target. Such a technique puts all the components to the ultimate test by enhancing their qualities of strength, tenacity and reliability.
