We have finally entered the height of the fall season, and pike, those of a certain size, are not slow to show up; on the last outing on Lake Maggiore I finally caught the first nice fish of the fall season, a male of almost five kilograms who did not hesitate to attack with his usual vehemence a 16-centimeter "perch"-colored shad mounted on a stinger rig to a hook.
The spot in which the catch occurred was characterized by a bottom of about twelve meters with the presence of various obstacles such as ropes, buoys, and anchor chains of floating docks; thus it was essential, once the big fish was ferreted out, to force it with the clutch almost completely tightened to avoid all the submerged obstacles I mentioned.

The equipment used, starting with the powerful but "docile" rod that went along with all the fish's outbursts along with a precise reel with progressive clutch, were of great importance.
But the essential elements of the catch turned out to be the super braided wire from Casa Asso, l'8XPE Evergreen green color and 0.15 mm thick along with the fluorocarbon terminal Asso Premium 0.30 mm thick. This fantastic combo allowed me to be able to force the fish and come out unscathed from the inevitable contact with all submerged obstacles thanks to extremely high abrasion resistance and unparalleled tenacity during combat.
These products have accompanied multiple of my notable catches and are a certainty when I ask for reliability and performance. Now with the arrival of the cold weather they will increase the power of the rod by switching from spinning to casting, the size of the silicones and the thicknesses of the wires always guaranteeing performance at the highest level.
Here's to the next challenges then!
