January 21, 2026Three artificial in crystal waters

Finally, this 2026 has also brought us to the eve of the fateful date of the last Sunday in February, which is the day set by current legislation for the reopening of hostilities against salmonids in current waters.
There should be no problem with low water levels this year as to date disturbances have been abundant in both mountains and plains.

As has been the case for some time now, I have chosen to arrive on the stream at noon, that is, when the greatest fishing pressure goes down; this choice has always paid off because, in addition to finding less "competition," the air and water temperatures rise a bit and the trout are more likely to attack the artificials.
The equipment used for this type of "light spinning" consists of a two-section tool measuring mt 2.44 with effective casting power of gr 5/15 combined with a size 2500 reel loaded with a braided line such as the Asso 8XPE Light Games fluorescent green color.
It is an excellent braided super strand with high abrasion resistance and is also very visible to keep an eye on the trajectories of our artificials; these will mainly be small minnows with sinking and neutral buoyancy along with small shad and silicone critters.
The fishing action, because of the low temperatures, will have to be very compassed to allow the fish to seize the imitations without wasting too much energy.
We therefore leave the use of reaction artificials such as rotating spoons and undulants to warmer periods and give priority to imitative artificials that assume slower presentations.
Even in this highly technical type of spinning, the choice of high-quality components will be able to make a difference.
